The Building & Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada today celebrated the one-year anniversary of Secretary-Treasurer Rob Benner's appointment and former Secretary-Treasurer and Reno City Councilman Paul McKenzie's retirement, as well as the date of McKenzie’s upcoming retirement gala.
"Under Rob's strong leadership, BCTNN has successfully navigated the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 Legislative Session and come out stronger than ever," said former Secretary-Treasurer Paul McKenzie. "The Building Trades in Nevada are in good hands."
Secretary-Treasurer Benner said, "Paul McKenzie is a remarkable labor leader and we will always be thankful for his many contributions to the labor movement. Though we could not celebrate his retirement properly last year due to COVID-19, we look forward to sending him off properly this year."
McKenzie's retirement party will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort on August 24th, benefiting the Northern Nevada Apprenticeship Coordinator's Association - NNACA. "Now more than ever, apprenticeship is needed for a skilled workforce," Benner said. "Donors will be helping build Nevada's skilled workforce and honoring Paul's legacy. If you would like to be a sponsor, please contact BCTNN."
Benner was elected as Secretary-Treasurer of the Building & Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada in June of 2020. Prior to his appointment, he served as Business Representative for BCTNN and an organizer for Sheet Metal Local 26.
